From RTV AguaCabra:

The dates and the allegory were decided yesterday by consensus of carnival groups and private neighbours in a meeting open to the public called from the Consistory La Oliva, on September 19, 2017. The Council of Festivities of the City of La Oliva and carnival groups of the municipality have already decided the dates and the allegory of the Carnival of Corralejo. The Carnival of Carnival is presented with the allegory "Retro Vintage", and will be held from February 23 to March 4 in the northern town.

This theme was decided yesterday in a consensual way in the meeting open to the public convened from the City of La Oliva last September 7, and which took part the groups of the carnival, representatives of political formations and private neighbors.

Guacimara González, Councilor for Culture and Celebrations, said that "2018 will be a Carnival of Carnival to rescue the feelings of the past, but that in turn is related to current issues such as retro aesthetics, so present in culture and the fashion of today, or the taste for recovering and exhibiting historical objects, a trend that recognizes the value of articles called vintage. "

The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, also participated in this meeting, and transferred with respect to the Retro Vintage allegory that "it is an interesting theme that can give a lot of play. In an island like Fuerteventura, and especially La Oliva , which in a few decades has made the leap to modernity, this theme will allow us to reflect on what happened, with nostalgia, but also from the critical spirit that should always accompany a party like Carnival.

In this meeting were also established the most marked events in the calendar, the Murgas Marathon, on Friday, March 2, and the Coso Carnavalero, on Saturday, the 3rd.
