I'm not sure I'd be too keen on taking an EOS5d down onto the beach. Last year I took my Canon compact and sand managed to get into the lens housing. Luckily managed to repair it, but I wouldn't risk my DSLR with the fine sand blowing around.

I'm sure Brian is using a weather sealed pro camera and lens. Likely has protection to.
