This is blatant discrimination against heterosexuals. Not a bad idea to isolate them but how about in Villa Winter away from us sensitive souls who are easily offended. And give `em Heterosil for breakfast.

Any thoughts about what location they are describing in the article? With a swimming pool on the roof, I thought it might be old little hotel in the old section. The original name escapes me now. However, I stayed there when I discovered El Cotillo. Today it is called Marea Viva Surf & Dive Hotel. Or is that now closed? I do not remember a solarium. Maybe they are building it.   Or is it the building near Azzurro that was to be a clothing optional set of apartments that were way over priced that are now for sale?

Sarcasm is not well conveyed on forums. Tell me you really are not that that limited in experiences. ( And don't knock it until you try it. )[:D]

Ignore him SoCal - the big tease [;)] [:D]

Oceanico - the ex-naturist place in the lagoons - and Marea Viva (surf hotel in the old centre) certainly possibles. Latest suggestion - the Oliastur Apartments between the old and new harbours, which do have a soalrium and pool on the roof.

Anyone any better ideas?

Not any more discriminating than Club 18-30 or Saga Holidays. - neither of which I find provocative.

Sandals don't operate in Fuerteventura and do not accept bookings from single people ( unless part of a wedding party) regardless of their sexuality.  Why is it discrimination to have holidays for straight couples anymore than it is to have holidays exclusively for 18 - 30's, nudists, swingers or gays etc. ? Just because groups of people wish to holiday with like minded others  doesn't mean they are discriminating against anybody else.

Difficult to understand what point you are trying to make.

I discriminate everyday , I drive a VW as i prefer them to BMW's . I shop at Tesco as i like their shops (and i we get 10% discount as wife works for them) . I holiday in Fuerteventura as i like the island better than other places . I pick my friends as i don't like everybody . I eat at El Toston in El Cotillo as i like the restaurant and its owners

Its generally called freedom of choice and speech .

Long may it continue  :D

Thanks for Ulf replies all of which are non related to my question or the topic!

In regards to sandals, a gay male was refused to stay at the resort alone when part of a wedding party as best man for his brother. As he was told to share room with a woman in order to stay. He did not wish to do this and thought why should he need to when he could stay in the room as single occupancy. Needless to say this caused much distress upset and expense to the wedding and guests as the venue was cancelled and they chose to marry in a gay friendly hotel. Sandals lost out to a big booking thru stupid rules. Do they seriously and naively think gay people will be fornicating everywhere!

All the rooms at Sandals are double occupancy regardless of whether you are straight or gay.  The gay male was not discriminated against, he just got upset because he couldn't get his own way. Equality means everybody is treated the same i.e. no special treatment for anybody including gays.

It was you chesternutz who introduced the subject of Sandals and nobody else. Why you raised the issue of Sandals I don't know because it has nothing to do with Fuerteventura, which is what this forum is all about.

I mentioned Sandals as others had mentioned Saga and 18-30.
Why couldnt this man pay the price of a double but only occupy himself in order to attend his brothers wedding. can you imagine not being allowed to do such a thing because a rule states double occupancy?

why do I feel I am being attacked her for simply raising a fact about Sandals in terms of historical date compared with other travel companies?

I simply asked if there was any further info on the El Cotillo gay site. nobody has answered this and have just focussed on the comment about Sandals.

I agree there are places for everyone to holiday that are not discriminating more tailored. Some like some and not others its their right. I was simply classing Sandals in the same area as Saga and 18-30 as specialised, but they had a lawsuit raised because of predominantly discriminating against same sex couples on their website and terms and conditions.

Dont attack the messenger. ???

We were in El Cotillo a couple of weeks back and never saw a single rainbow flag or anything to suggest a gay friendly place. Not that we were looking for our own benefit, but we have a lot of dealings with the gay community, and have learnt to pick up the signals.
The original post said they were promoting plans for a business, so maybe it never got started. Or they are being very shy?

We were told on our last night on the Island that the place has opened but couldn't work out where they meant it was. Somewhere behind another hotel apparently, so that narrows it down a lot because we've only seen 3 hotels there!
