Interested in this lifestyle but wary as single female

Hi, I have moved over here after a long time pondering over this decision but I live here alone. Any advice on safe places for a female who is just dipping toes into naturism? (I live in Corralejo) :)

falkirkdan

Without doubt the Cotillo lagoons.   Bus every hour from Corry.

Snowdrop

Go just past the surf place at flag beach heading towards the two hotels, and just past the rocks/pools/bunkers.  You will see the white metal framed life guard thing - we go around that area and single females seem to feel happy going there and along that stretch towards the hotels.  Think you just need to be not far from other people to feel safe in yourself.  the side to the left of the surf place and hotel natura you tend to get the guy that I believe is Italian roaming about which makes me uncomfortable.  .enjoy :-)

Have they built a new lifeguard post?  It had been removed when I was there in November.

And I agree with your comments.  There seem to be a number of young, Spanish girls/ladies go to that area either singly or in small groups.

Aw okay hairybiker I didn't realise the lifeguard thing had been taken down.  It has been a good few months since we have been down the beach there.  And I'd guess that as you say it's now gone it will not have been replaced :-)

Hi Guys, thanks for the replys, I need to be hanging off my balcony at a 90'degree angle at the moment to get wifi so apologies about the delayed response!!

Falkirkdan, I've been to El Cortillo but only doing 'touristy things' so I'm thinking that I should revisit this again and explore a bit more, the lagoons are to the right of the town as far as I know but I've never really gone past the town so thanks for this ☺️

Snowdrop, again thanks, I do know exactly where you mean, have been there a few times and although stunning beaches, I never felt comfortable enough to go further than topless there, again I might revisit and give it another shot, as they say, she who dares....yada yada 😊

Are there any clubs, groups or circles that meet up? In saying that, the weather doesn't really help at the moment 😂

Thanks again 👌

Definitely El Cotillo. Go out past Cotillo Beach Hotel, then just follow the tarmac road to the beach bar. Then walk on to your right (North) towards the houses with the funny roofs.
There's always a big mixed group of middle-aged naturists along there. We think they seem a bit cliquey, but I think that's just us. Fact is, they're very sociable amongst themselves, so I'm sure you'd soon break through and fit in.
It's a busy area, full of the 'right people', and nice and open, so no-one can sneak up on you, which, as a single female, is what you're probably most apprehensive about.
We go to that spot occasionally, if we feel energetic enough to walk across from El Caleton!!

I enjoy spending time at the Cotillo lagoons and have met some lovely fellow naturists. It may seem as though there are cliques of people but everyone I have talked to has been very welcoming to anyone new who wants to chat.
It is quite a walk from the bus station, I don't know if the bus still drops passengers off at the Cotillo Beach Hotel bus stop, which is nearer to the lagoons.

I didn't mean to be unkind to those on the beach, to be frank, we're not very gregarious ourselves and probably for that reason, they've not spoken to us. That, and they probably don't like all our piercings. I don't care,, live and let live  ;D ;D ;D
The reason I suggested that area was that it's just the right place with just the right people for a single lady to be comfortable there.

The stop by the Cotillo Beach Hotel is still the terminus for routes 7 and 8.

Thanks again for the most recent comments, all very helpful!
The info on the bus is very handy to know for now....next step is to invest in some wheels which will give me so much more independence 😉
Was in El Cortillo today, once again doing the touristy thing with visitors, but at the same time quietly checking things out for myself...looks like the perfect place for me 👌😎🍸

I'm sure Cotillo will be fine, but equally I can't think of many places in Fuerteventura where a single female wouldn't feel safe being naked on a naturist beach.

Grampiangranny

Late 50's UK couple will be staying in our apartment in Cotillo from Sat 27th Feb until Tues 3 May.  Spend most days nude on the last lagoon, often with other friends. As others have said it's pretty safe there, but did come to a pestered single lady's rescue just after New Year!

That is the advantage of choosing Cotillo in our experience. You will find most naturists are English and couples and friendly. We will be there in 9 days  :)

There's a difference between being safe and feeling safe. Frankly I think one would feel safe in a busy place, for a first experience.

I doubt that there's many unsafe places anyway.

.

Doesn't that depending on what the OP is worried about?

Some one worried about voyeurs wouldn't want a busy place. Some people might feel pressure to strip off in a crowd area even if they aren't ready.

Hi AnnieDay, Thursday for sun according to this forecast.

spirefolks

Last bit of packing. Arriving tomorrow. Pleeeeease let the sun shine!
thanks

spirefolks

It can be daunting going to a naturist beach by yourself as a man too. I was widowed last year and I have occasionally had unwanted attention from gay men. Yesterday I had the great fortune to spend my day at the beach with a female friend. To anyone else we probably looked like a couple and it was so much easier to relax. I normally use the dunes south of Corralejo, if anyone ever wants company I would be more than happy to meet up.

juliesquire

I am a single female. I have been to El Cotillo twice, to the naturist beaches and felt safe. I am a 'newbie' naturist too!!  Am going back at the end of May, and hope to eventually move to Fuerteventura.

Hi All,

I am new to this site, and trying to establish myself in the threads...so here goes.

I accept both Annie & Stevek's apprehension about going to nude beaches on your own, so 'hats off' to you both; but I am sure in time this concern will decrease. As with the previous comment by Julie, I too have been to EL Cotillo lagoons (only on day trips, as usually stay in Corralejo); and found most folks I spoke to friendly enough. This year I will be staying in El Cotillo for 2 full weeks, and would be more than happy to chat to friendly people of either gender; so Annie & Stevek if your around....I look forward to possibly making your acquaintance.

When are you going? We fly out 17/09 for 2 weeks. We have always stayed in Corralejo in the past and we will be newbies to  Cotillo. Looking forward to it but a little apprehensive that it may be a bit too quite and like Harlequin16 would be happy to socialise if anybody else is going to be there.

harlequin16

Hi Helsbelles,

I will be arriving in El Cotillo a few days after you both, but hopefully we can arrange to meet; at some point during both our stays.

It seems that some people unfortunately misunderstood our post.

Perhaps a better way of describing the naturists in that area would be - they are a large sociable group. None of them have gone out of their way to greet us, but they seem to be perfectly approachable. When we're on holiday, we're perfectly happy with our own company but will readily chat with anyone who passes by. We're not particularly going out to make new friends, though we now have several who we meet up with in El Cotillo.
We're absolutely certain that one would be made most welcome in this area if one made the effort.
It's a lovely, open area, with all the 'right' people and a first-time naturist visitor would feel very comfortable and 'safe' (the original question).
Just round the headland is what we call 'our beach' by El Caleton. Round there, almost everybody seems to nod a greeting. It's a much quieter beach, with a wide mix of peoples, but definitely naturist. This place suits us best
1) We stay at El Caleton, 20metre walk to the sand!!!
2) It makes us feel 'special'
3) A little horseshoe bay, delightfully enclosed, sit on the sand and you don't even have to see the town.
4) Easy access to the further beaches if feeling enthusiastic, only 100metre to the headland end of the other beach.
5) Our time on holiday is precious, we stick mostly to what we know suits us personally.

Go to the place at the end of the big beach with the beach bar, get up by the houses with the funny roofs, it's perfect for first-timers, the apprehensive and anyone who wants to feel at home amongst similar-thinking people.
