I'm not really bothered by this section's existance, whether it stays or goes.
I had too much time on my hands this morning, and have come up with the following statistics
First post, announcing creation of the section --- 4th Feb 011
Total number of posts in the section ---- 447
THe following numbers are subjective - My own interpretation of each post -
Posts on actual Gay Issues, (original post and proper responses) 25
Posts looking for Social Contacts, (original post and proper responses) 12
Posts looking for sex, (original post and proper responses) 25
'Silly' or non-serious comments on those subjects as well as debate over the suitability or need of the section make up the other 86%
All I can add to that, is to repeat my previous posts.
Actually, every topic in the Gay Section is directly about Fuerte, except 2 news links by fifi and a spam for fake drugs.
Gay people are very much like the rest of us. Looking to be with like-minded people.
Firstly, many are in private, committed relationships, and are hardly noticed in the wider community.
A lot of gays are readily identifiable by their character and/or styling. A great many of them are very promiscuous. Undeniably, a lot of people don't like them. Of course, most people don't care one way or another about them, but still end up not socialising with them.
Probably, two important questions a gay person on holiday has are :-
Where can I go, and not get ostracised or even beaten up?
Where can I get sex?
These need to be addressed in a gay environment.
Does this environment exist in gay websites/forums/whatever? Probably.
Does Fuerteventuraforum.com need to provide this environment? Probably not.
Do the politically correct bunch think so? Probably.
Can we simply ignore the Gay Section lurking at the bottom of the page? Probably
Do I think it fair that gay/bisexual people can advertise to meet for sex, and straight swingers can't? No
Would we as a straight couple (who swing) think it right for us to advertise for sex on here? Definitely Not
We originally asked for a 'Contacts' section, to clean-up the Naturist section, as that was being missused, and offending naturists. In the same post, we suggested that 'someone may like to organise a section for the gay community', meaning a contact section for them, although it would be equally suitable to have a combined forum.
The only two reasons that gays may have for using this new section are: to make contact with each other: to rebuff the tiresome 'anti' comments to which they're being subjected. Other than that, their needs are no different to the rest of us.
I'd be very pleased to hear from any gay people who either agree or disagree with these sentiments
Should it stay? Should it go? only admin knows.
Is it earning it's keep? The consensus seems to be no.
