Naturism in August

Hello all. I haven't posted here before but gathered a lot of info from this forum over the last year or so, so I thought I would post an update on the situation in August on the favoured naturist beaches to help others.

I've just returned from the Riu on Correlejo dunes, and visited this beach, El Cotillo and Sotavento during the week. Gossip reported that these are three most popular and best reviewed beaches. I went with my family with full intention to buck the naturist trend at every opportunity outside of the hotel, and met up with another naturist family whilst out there so at maximum there were 6 of us together including two kids.

Our experience with naturism on Fuerteventura was wholly positive; not so much with the numbers but with the tolerance. The numbers were low but the tolerance very high! El Cotillo did have a few naturists there due to the higher privacy. On both the dunes and at Sotavento however there were next to no naturists BUT that changed as soon as we rolled up and stripped off. We were amazed at the effect this had. Yes there were a lot of holiday makers around for which nudity was the last thing on their mind. Fuerteventura was brimming with Spanish vacationers including the expected campervans at El Cotillo, and is obviously attracting more regulars from the UK. However, naturism we found was alive and well....just a little bit muted and hidden! Naturists obviously have a tendancy to want others to strip off first.

There's another thread on this forum about how naturism might be dying a death. No way! Naturism is doing just fine AS LONG AS naturists stay true to their beliefs. If there's one message to send out it would be that, and if naturism does die out and become taboo like on so many islands and countries it will not be the fault of the textiles! So please...if you read this then remember, naturism on Fuerteventura is FINE. You are ALLOWED. If you are surrounded by cossied sunbathers then just go for it. On at least three occasions our stripping off led to a good number of folks around us stripping off too, particularly on Corralejo beach (north of the hotels but south of the kitesurfer section).

We're off out to Corralejo again in October. I suspect August was the low point in the year for naturism, but once again we will strip off everywhere we can.....because we CAN.  8)

Isn't it odd that even someone topless on a UK beach appears unusual . As soon as many of those that don't go topless in the UK get abroad off come the tops , why is this ? Nude bathing is allowed on the beaches of the UK but must be done in such a manner as to not in any way offend other beach users . We have sunbathed nude behind windbreaks on the Suffolk coast without any problems . We are not naturists by any means but being nude on the beach and in the sea is so natural . It makes us laugh sometimes when in Fuerteventura that textiles change on the beach around many naturists but do the hiding behind the towel dance !
We will be back in Fuerteventura in about 6 weeks :)

Greetings Keelgill, Your experience on the rock  is similar to mine and others. Tolerance is high enough for naturists to feel comfortable among others. However, some months are more naturist popular than others. It has been reported that August is not one. Hence thanks for the good news. My perception based on the locations you visited that April, May and June are months where naturism is more predominate. If you wish to meet other nudists, maybe try those months in the future. Regardless, enjoy life. It is far too short to experience tension.

Grandes Playas, Corralejo, just past (South of) the RIUs is absolutely packed with naturists at the moment, as it has been for most of September. The beach is very busy with more sunbeds occupied than in August and a lot of people on the sand as well. I'm guessing 90% naturist, 10% textile.

Great to know as 6 of us are heading out to a villa in Corralejo on Saturday 3rd October! Might stop at that bit of beach on the way up from the airport  8) ;D I had a feeling that pretty much any other time other than August was going to better for nudies.

What are things like July in the south? Jandia area? We might be able to go then.
