Hi I may need to hire a car for a few days as mine needs some work done on it. Which company is the cheapest for a reliable small car? What can I expect to pay for a three day hire? |

A good tip on car hire if you book your flights months in advance do the same with your car hire and of course not like the airlines you dont have to pay till you collect your car we have booked our car from 12 july till 2 aug at 15 euro per day last year in july they were 25 euro per day also booked parking at L/pool airprt just by departures £47 for three weeks BOOKED THESE 8 NOV 2009

I booked payless.circar in DEc..very helpful delivered toour hotel and picked up there too. changed car no problem as they delivered 5 door at first and I needed 3 door cos of my little houndini. think it was about E90 for 5 days...
Had few car probs here and looked into hiring one here for Sat gone. They only offered Airport pick up and drop off as it was only for Sat/Sun and they wanted £46 for one day inclusive of Excess/cover. probs are here you have to leave up to a £500 deposit with them even if you have taken out the excess cover with the insurance.......yeh you get it back if you deliver the car back in one piece, but who'sgot £500 readies just like that.....especially if you dont have a credit card, only debit...... Don't get it cos all they wanted in Fuerte was the hire fee no extra ??

I agree with Potash, book well in advance with Payless or Cicar, no credit card details required when booking on line, just turn up on the day when you arrive and pick up the car and pay by credit card or cash. If you find before you travel that the price has gone down, simply cancel the booking online and rebook a few minutes later for the cheaper price.
I have never been asked by either company to pay extra for insurance, the price you are quoted is inclusive of insurance. Payless seem to only operate pick ups and drop offs from the airport. Cicar are slightly more expensive but more flexible about pick up/drop off locations. For example, this Xmas I picked up the car from Fuerte airport but was able to leave it at their branch in Corralejo harbour as we were going home via Lanzarote. This facility saved at least €45 on a taxi from Caleta to Corralejo. |

| Just looked at the payless website, great quote for 14 days over Xmas only 196E, there are no insurance details on the site, so don't know what is and is NOT included. The price is not so great if there are loads of extras added on pick up, anyone dealt with this co@ recently from Fuerte Airport?? |

| Deal with them all the time Lockie. Insurance is fully loaded and they have proper kiosk at airport. They are to be trusted. |

| Payless are generally cheaper but only from the airport however Cicar can have deals on group D cars at group B prices which make them cheaper than Payless. We tend to hire an Astra through Cicar for this reason. |

I always book Payless for pick up and return at airport. If I want to return it to Corrie central or Port (open later for drop off) I pop into the Corrie office beforehand and after a bit of traditional shrugging and sighing they have always agreed.
I always book a 3 door Corsa 1000cc and have always been given a 5 door Astra 1.6 petrol or 1.7 diesel. |

Just booked Payless/Cicar via Cabrera (see second post above)at €120 for 7 days, pickup airport drop off Corrie office. They include an Astra in their cheapest group so i've booked one. Interesting that 4 days rent was €137!
I'll miss the sighs and the shrugs, though! |

| Check the amount of doors and if the car in both cases has airconditioning Dave. With Topcar Autoreisen and AutoReisen (Same companies) you get a slightly different model with the cheaper quote. |

| Iv`e only once managed to get the car I ordered and it was a necessity, I needed a six seater. This time I got an on line quote from Payless and it was more than Cicar so I`m sticking with Cicar. There seems no logic to the booking charges unless being registered with Cicar (like wot I am) somehow brings the price down. |

| Car Hire and excess insurance is cheap for 3 days. The best deal you will probably get is with https://www.icarhireinsurance.com/ - 2.99 a day |
