BBC News online - why the occasional very old item?

Every evening I read the BBC News online and about once a week there will be an item in the 'Popular/Read' section that turns out to be years old. Tonight there is an article from 2007 on a Roman coin depicting Anthony & Cleopatra.
Anyone know why/how these old articles suddenly pop up?
Not important - just got me wondering!  ::)
