Has anyone here managed to bend an Autoreisen car and actualy put their 'no excess'  claim to the test?

I've no intention of finding out for myself, but I'm intrigued as to how they keep their prices down, without selling 'extra protection', as so many other firms do. I've considered buying an independent annual policy as a back-up. I don't want to find out the hard way!

If you rent on a "no excess" basis, then there's nothing to put to the test.  If the car is damaged, they cover the cost (either through insurance or self-funding).  They keep their prices down by buying cheap cars (often second-hand), and by not repairing every scratch and scrape.  Then they sell the cars.
