Keeping busy when you retire

Friends who are still working often ask recently retired people like me what I do to keep my days interesting.

Well, for example, the other day my wife and I went into town to go shopping.

We were only in the first shop for about five minutes and when we came out there was a policeman writing out a ticket because the car didn't have a valid tax disk.

So I went up to him and, with a friendly smile, said, 'Oh! Come on mate! How about giving a pensioner a bit of a break?'

He ignored me and carried on writing the ticket.

So I called him a "bloody fascist jobs-worth".

He glared at me and started writing another ticket for the worn tyres.

So my wife stepped in and called him a "bloody dick-head", which I thought a little harsh, but it seemed to hit home.

So he finished the second ticket, put it on the windscreen with the first and started writing a third ticket for a broken rear light.

This went on for a good twenty minutes, but he was persistent I'll give him that. The more we abused him the more tickets he wrote.

Anyway, we gave up then. We didn't care really as we'd come into town on the bus.

It's good to have a little fun each day when you've retired. It's so important at our age.  ;D
