I went to switzerland at the weekend
« on: May 24, 2018, 21:39:36 pm »
had to drive to switzerland at the weekend with work and was wondering about border checks and all that, you know, them being in europe but not in the EU.

the only thing different from crossing the border than say from france to spain was we had to pay for a years road tax (40 euro) and that was it, no can we see your ID or passport, nothing like that, just pay us road tax to use the roads and your away.

on the flip side it cost about £15 for a macdonalds meal deal . . . . . .

Switzerland is at the top of the Big Mac Index. (Ukraine at the bottom)
BigMacIndex
Switzerland     $ 6.76
Euro                $ 4.84
UK                  $ 4.46
Ukraine           $ 1.64

Could not agree more, the only thing I ever refused my youngest grandson, was to go to McDonald's, did not stop his Mother or grandmother taking him however :(

Always thought French cuisine was over rated. Take away the snails and horse meat and what have you got? ;)

Can't beat a good locally cooked goat stew. Try los Pinchitos in lajares. No pretentious French waiters, not even a clean table sometimes and often a strange whiff in the air ( possibly from the Caballeros).. but great food if you are one not too far up your own backside.

I'd rather starve than go to MacDonalds.  No !!!  You don't know what you're getting.
