Flu jab programme
The annual flu vaccination programme in the Canary Islands got under way on October 15 and was preceded by fresh calls by the Department of Health for at risk sectors of the population to get the jab.

The regional government has spent nearly â,¬900,000 buying in a quarter of a million vaccines of various types to be administered in health centres throughout the Islands in the coming weeks and months.  Appointments can be made via the 015 telephone number and officials have urged the public to get their jab sooner rather than later to help increase their resistance to the flu virus which normally hits the Canaries for the first time in the late autumn.  As usual, a series of TV ads and radio jingles, together with information posters for display in health centres and hospitals, has been produced to coincide with the start of the vaccination programme.
