Post by: haribo on February 10, 2019, 14:54:47 PM
Hi been an owner here for 14 years and had no trouble with ants but this holiday we can`t keep up with them, they are so tiny is hardly possible to see them therefore can`t find out how they are getting in, please help what is the best thing to use to combat these any help appreciated.

Hi Haribo, I have had the same problem. Go to the Spar at the Atlantio and buy some KH-7 Desic. It`s in a purple bottle. You mix with water and mop the floors with it. Roughly 1 cap full to a bucket of water. I also mix a cap full into an old hand sprayer and spray around the outside of the building where the walls meet the floor. Should keep the little buggers out for about 4 weeks. Ants also like to travel around the house through the conduits of the electrical system so I take the fronts off the sockets and switches and spray some down. Now we have no ant problems. The stuff kills them on contact.

Best of luck.
Paul.

Thanks will give this a try , i can honestly say they have drove me mad you keep cleaning, bleaching etc but with not joy. I did try and ant spray but it`s not like having Nippon in England, brilliant stuff.

Mercadona do a pack of two little green plastic round ant traps. You put them in the middle of a point where they are walking in a line and you snap open a plastic tab at each end as an entrance and an exit. they then pass the poison around it seemed to make all my ants disappear for about 6 weeks, and they weren't as numerous when they did come back. Only problem is after four boxes they seemed to learn because the last two I put down they didn't touch them!  :D although I thought maybe it was more likely to be because it was an old pack

We use that “DESIC” all the time when out after numerous recommendations on this & other forums. Brilliant stuff, has a nice smell & leaves a surface coat when dry that is also a deterrent. I can honestly say that when we arrive (which is about every 4 months) we hardly ever even see a spider in our place

Use a barrier spray around the house, windows doors etc with Zum.  I get it from Euro Spar.  It lasts 12  mnths. Less ant problem for me since I did this.  Keep things like sugar in airtight containers.
