from RTV AguaCabra:
The Fair of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing of Fuerteventura (Feaga) of 2018 will have a program of events that will extend throughout the year, related to the primary sector and products of the Majorero field. This was announced today, Monday, February 12, the president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Marcial Morales, at a press conference, in which he was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Juan Estárico.

The Cabildo de Fuerteventura is immersed in the reorganization of Feaga, with the aim of modernizing it and accommodate rising sectors such as renewable energy, water or the genetics of the majorera goat. "We bet decisively with the Government of the Canary Islands and municipalities to renew the format of the fair, in order to make it increasingly attractive to young people and in line with the new times in the primary sector," explained Morales.

Morales also added that "2018 will be a year of transition for Feaga, with renovation of its facilities that involve an investment of millions of euros, and will give rise to a more modern and sustainable fairground that will be ready for the edition of 2019. "

In this sense, the Cabildo is currently completing the construction of a new nursery and a new oil mill, and the asphalting of the access to the site and the reordering of the plot are also about to be executed.

In addition, the Island Corporation will shortly contract the construction of three large warehouses that will add more than 10,000 square meters under roof and that will form a new exhibition center with a central courtyard outside the Granja de Pozo Negro. This new venue will host events related to the primary sector, as well as mass events from other sectors such as metal, sports and tourism.

Feaga 2018 will therefore not have its original format, and events linked to Majorero products such as cheese, oil, wine or aloe vera will be held throughout the year, as well as livestock as the central identity of Feaga and other celebrations. and training days.

According to Estárico, "it is expected that the final program will be ready by the end of this month of February, counting on the proposals of workers in the livestock, fishing and agricultural sectors. They will also be provided with assistance to fairs, with trips that serve as training for the sector. "

The 2018 program will include actions such as tastings, exhibitions, presentations, the National Contest of Goat's Milk Cheeses 'Tabefe Awards' and the first oil and wine contests.

For its part, Feaga 2019 will already have the new venue, in addition to renewed activities that will give a boost to the fair in its new event.

I think what they are saying is that they won't be having the normal 4 day event with 'everything'. Instead there will be selected dates throughout the year where they will have one or more of the 'attractions'. They are building more permanent covered/enclosed areas so that from 2019 onwards FEAGA can be bigger/better and also other events can be held there during the year.

It's been confirmed that there is no 4 day FEAGA event this year, even though it was originally advertised to take place from 12-215 April 2018
