400,0000 expats
« on: March 02, 2019, 10:29:18 am »
In the event of no deal 400,000 expats can stay in Spain.  The cynic might say
they need their income.  What ever the reason it must be a relief to those it effects.

It was always going to be that way. Remember K2000 nothing changed then either.

Nobody wants to lose money. It's the obvious reason why all the meltdown threats will never materialise. All just a figment of a terrified Establishments imagination. Ex pats never had anything to fear from brexit .

Same thing really in comparison to the "hard border" on the Irish border.
The UK doesn't want it.
Ireland doesn't want it.
The EU doesn't want it.

So who's going to make it happen after the 29th?

No one.

DUP doesn't even want it.

I wonder if it's just a ruse to thwart us leaving?.

No they wouldn't stoop so low would they? ;)

I don't want to sound cynical Malabu, its just difficult to believe the Spanish will not somehow come up with an extra tax or two for ex pats using the excuse of Britex. Time will tell and I sincerely hope I am wrong.

No need for brexit as an excuse. They've already got one...the non residents property tax.

How has the EU allowed this travesty to carry on when it flies against everything they stand for.

Saying my last comment, I have to admit I never had any problems with the Spanish reference rubbish collections, infrastructure, parking charges, street lighting i.e. things your tax pays for. In my UK
location it is like the third world, we are lucky to get our bins emptied fortnightly, and the road system is like a tank testing area for pot holes on top of that we are getting a new rate increase :-\ :-\ :-\ Im starting to think seriously about coming back.

Let's face it. Anybody who is working or retired in the UK is getting screwed. Council tax is the biggest rip off and increases above inflation annually, it's difficult to see any real benefit from this extortionate tax. Young National insurance paying workers will be lucky to ever benefit from a State pension. The sad truth is that tax payers and pensioners in the UK are subsidising those claiming benefits, who I might add, seem to be the only people procreating. The wise ones are living the life in Fuerteventura, and are still quids in, even with the unjust non residents tax. Best roads in Europe too.

Problem with the UK is from Foreign Aid downwards they are happy to shaft their own while bending over backwards to look after the welfare of everyone else.

Content to send billions overseas while among other things calmly watching crime exploding on our streets through lack of funding, our road system falling to pieces and the NHS swamped by non paying participants. Our state pension is one of the most miserly in Europe, and many old folks are not getting proper care they deserve in old age.

Don't go there with the billions about to be wasted on HS20. Even if its cancelled now it has cost a fortune.

We need a total overhaul of our political classes and system, If brexit can help do that then bring it on.

Everything you need to know is here.  https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-spain#eu-exit-what-you-need-to-know

If you are already legally resident, a knew type of biometric ID card, a TIE will be issued automatically.
If you are not legally Resident after Brexit, you have to apply as a Non EU Resident which is not so straight forward.

You cant blame the Spanish, what else can they do for ex pats, they need to know the figures to collect the cash? I can imagine it wont be cheap and it will be on a Bi Annual cycle like the banks have.
