I wish that there were more bars and restaurants like El Capitans. It is a typical Spanish bar/restaurant with a good selection of tapas which are reasonably priced. El Capitans has free wifi and also happy hours.

Since you know Wok Slowboat:- at the bottom of the steps turn right and go through the kids playground, again turn right and cross the road. You then (diagonally) cross the newly paved area that was once a car park - heading towards the Barcelo Fuerteventura. At the next road (the raised road running parallel to the main road) turn left and it's a about 200 yards down on the left hand side. I always think it's best to go there with someone who knows the ropes i.e. how to get happy hour prices for drinks and where and how to order food.

I'll test Mark out tonight with a strange Lancy/Yorky accent and see how he gets on - Lancy for ordering beer and Yorky when it comes to leaving a tip (only joking!!!!).

This is NOT the best Spanish place in Caleta. For starters, the owner is Austrian. The Tapas can get a bit expensive if you start ordering too many, which you are likely to do.

just back from caleta.we had tapas on 3 occasions in el capitan.can,t remember how many dishes we had,but it was enough to satisfy 4 of us.the average cost, with drinks was round about 45 euros.i thought this was very reasonable.on one visit my sons girlfriend had the biggest slice of cheesecake i,ve ever seen.i was that impressed i posted a photo on facebook.really enjoyed eating in el capitan, good food, cheap drinks, and very, very, good service.my son and his girlfriend,on there first ever visit to fuerte, were very impressed with the quality of all the food they had in caleta, and the price. :) ;)

Haven't been there for a few years but intend to go when I'm back in November. Used to be really good and sounds like it hasn't changed.

Also gets our vote, especially saturday night after 8.30 (happy hour starts - two drinks for the price of one, and two great flamenco spanish guitarists.
Mark is an acquired taste but always friendly !!

If you think Mark is an acquired taste, how about Pilar - she scares me to death, but I still risk it!

Still an iconic Spanish bar in the centre of Caleta. Sangria is pre made and is dispensed out of a plastic water bottle but tastes as good as anywhere (my wife advises drinkers beware it's strength). Toilets are not great and lets the place down a little. But no visit to Caleta is complete without at least one visit.
