Caleta.

Yesterday turned out very much as WG had forecast, it started off very brightly, and at 10:30 there were areas of cloudless sky, but what cloud there was very scattered, temp reached 20 c, but with very little wind it felt more like 22/23 C

Then around 11:00 the cloud started to build, and it made a half-hearted attempt to rain, which came to nothing.

The rest of the day was a mixture of sunny spells and cloud but felt pleasantly warm

.

18:30 Cloud is thickening temp down to 16 C.

I had a friend down south of The Island yesterday, where he claims around midday the temp reached 23 C after a very sharp shower which lasted for 15 minutes.

Today.

07:15

A bright start, temp 18 C wind South Westerly 4/5 Mph

09:00

Temp. 18C.

Wind S/Westerly 6/7 Mph.

Humidity. 71%

Visibility. Very Good.

Sea. A 6 Ft swell, but calm.

UV expected to reach 5 around noon.

Forecast

Temp, not to exceed 18 C but to feel slightly warmer as currently there is very little wind, but the wind is forecast to move Southerly  increase 14/15 Mph mid-afternoon, before weakening again  early evening, the likelihood of rain is currently 6% but that will increase as the day goes on and become 50/60% mid afternoon early evening.

Tindaya - other than a couple of spots here and there last night we had no rain to speak of until 7am when it hammered it down for about 30 minutes. It cleared to a lovely bright, sunny day. A big band of cloud sat over the range to the east of us all day. Little or no breeze all day, very hot in the sun.

Tindaya - a mixed bag today, periods of heavy grey gloom interspersed with glorious blue skies and sunshine. Wind built during the day, mainly from the south, and by mid afternoon it was a gale.  Bits of drizzle driven by the wind felt like needles and then just after 9pm the rain came down (well, horizontally actually) in torrents for about 15 minutes. The wind has eased slightly and is still very strong but not screaming anymore thank goodness. Southern facing windows still rattling. Glad I wasn't at sea this evening, or flying!
I spoke too soon; the wind has just resumed shrieking!

Good morning from Caleta which is totally different to yesterday. JohnR's grey pictures posted yesterday are enough of those, we had odd showers during the day but during last night we have had heavy rain as the sun shade sails were full this morning.  When the sun did show its face yesterday it was nice and warm. Wind to gales from the south were the dominating factor it was really whistling around the villa last evening.

Lets put yesterday behind us, this morning a pleasant one with the wind, which has dropped, back in its prevailing direction as the planes are landing from the south again.  Sun is shining cloud to west and south west over the mountains, currently 15c.

Todays forecast -
Mostly sunny all day with a clear sky this evening, temperature up to 21c at 2pm with a UV factor of 6 at midday.
Wind from the W all day moving SW to SSW this evening, speeds increasing from current 18Km/h up to 26Km/h at midday dropping again by early evening to 13Km/h.

Tides

High tide  05:29h  1.9m
Low tide   11:49h  0.7m
High tide  18:00h  1.9m

Sun ephemeris  26-02-2018
Sunrise  07:25  Sunset   18:51

Moon phase  26-02-2018
Waxing Gibbous Moon 11 day(s) old

Enjoy today

Tindaya - a gorgeous bright day although fresh in the wind in the morning. Heavy rain at times overnight. The wind eased during the day and it was hot in the sun during the afternoon. Some cloud moved back in for a while but no more rain.
Treated to a mating display by a Houbara late this afternoon in the field in front of us, very clear through binoculars but not close enough to photograph. It looked like a large white puffball as it raced to and fro across it's patch! A Hoopoe landed on the fence in front of me while I watching the Houbara.

El Cotillo... The forecast is for a wild and windy day. With gale force SW onshore winds, reaching 49mph at their peak. Other than that, it is a cloudy start with the possibility of light showers during the morning. The cloud should clear after lunch, leaving a windy sunny afternoon. Temperatures expected in the low 20's.

Tides:
6:11 AM            Moonset
6:13 AM      0.06 meters   (0.20 ft)   Low Tide
6:55 AM            First Light
7:21 AM            Sunrise

Caleta is dominated by the wind both yesterday and so far today and as Martin has said the wind is going to continue to be gale force throughout today.

Yesterdays picture don't show the wind which blew over an smashed a urn weighing over 25kilos in the garden, in one picture you can make out the choppy sea.

This mornings picture I hope shows the wind effect, currently drizzle and very grey sky 17c.

Todays forecast -
Partly cloudy this morning and then mostly sunny this afternoon with temperature reaching believe it or not they say 22c at 2pm.
The wind remains in the SW / SSW 41 to 46Km/h all day so that is the dominating factor.

Not quite as dramatic as Martins pictures but bad enough and it was a test of driving skills in the wind today.

Tindaya - windy, very windy, very, very windy, extremely windy, even more extremely windy and the noise! Exhausting, thought it was meant to have eased a bit by now.
