The activity takes place on May 13, on the occasion of the Geolodía of 2018, which coordinates the Geological Society of Spain

The Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the University of La Laguna organize an excursion along the western coast of the island, with the aim of disseminating geology in the natural environment, sensitizing the population about the geological importance of Fuerteventura and the need to respect this heritage . The activity will take place on May 13, on the occasion of the celebration of the Geolodía of 2018, an initiative coordinated by the Geological Society of Spain.

Participants will make a free excursion, aimed at the general public (over ten years of age), prior registration at the web address www.cabildofuer.es/cabildo/areas-tematicas/medio-ambiente. The deadline to register ends next May 10.

The people who attend will have as a meeting point the side of the Bus Station of Puerto del Rosario where the taxi stand is located at 09.00. From there, they will move to the area of Aguas Verdes, where they will make a walking itinerary of about four kilometers and an estimated duration of six hours.

Geolodía is an initiative that emerged in Aragon in 2005, and was held since then in different locations throughout the country, in order to bring the geology to the citizen and put it in direct contact with nature.

The detailed information on the activity can be consulted in the environment area of the Cabildo website, www.cabildofuer.es, and in www.sociedadgeologica.es.

Tamara: Sounds interesting but I guess you'd need good Spanish to make the most of it!
