Eyesight only I believe, but a good mate of mine had his last Friday, will see him tomorrow and ask.

It's not a medical test as such. in fact it's a bit of a joke. An eye test, then you hold two joysticks and have to keep an object between two lines as it rolls and curves. Last time I did it, the damn thing never stopped beeping, but still passed   ;D

Just for info. My wife took her parents aged 79 and 80 to renew their Spanish driving licences yesterday. They had not received a reminder to date. Their licences were due for renewal in early August. To do the renewal at Trafico no paperwork needed other than the medical and showing them your residencia. There is a points system for the medical including the simulated driving test, with the points system dictating how long the new licence will run and any restrictions imposed, such as limiting the speed the licence holder can drive at. Their licences have been renewed for a further 2 years.

Out of interest, as mine is due to be changed soon, do you need an interpreter or will a basic knowledge of Spanish suffice?

Basic Spanish, a device with google translate and a smile will get you by at both the medical test and trafico.

i speak spanish but the girl spoke english as Soon as she interviewed me  what a lovely helpful person .
