According to RTE news they have quoted declining economic activity in Ireland as the main reason, as well as bolshy unions

unions

they previously stated they dont have to take unions seriously

then backed down (cos it is illegal to not recognise a democratically elected union)

now they are screwed. no one to blame but themselves.

I suspect that will be the position the highly-paid pilots find themselves in when they're out of jobs.

Not so sure that will happen, I read an article 3/4 weeks back which said there is a worldwide shortage of pilots, now I am aware this may not be the case in Ireland but they have to relocate to find employment they will not be the first people it has happened to.

oh no, wait, theres not that many of them, most earn more flying for other airlines thats exactly why they strike at ryannair.

(are you really this dumb? or is it a act ?)

They'd rule you out quickly for lack of literacy.  However, Ryanair's 737 pilots earn around 20% more than 737 pilots working for people like Jet2 and Norwegian.  So your argument doesn't really stack up, which doesn't surprise any of us.

.. Thats just O`Leary speak the truth is far more prosaic than that. Whilst some are on the magical 20% more , most are not. But its more than that .Its how they treat people, promotion and seniority, changing of bases and rosters..In short inflexibility..Thats why Ryanair has lost a lot of pilots to both Norwegian and Jet2 and one of the reasons they ended up having to cancel so many flights.

The bit about too many having to take leave at the same time was just smoke and mirrors. I know you are a shareholder but treat O`Leary speak with the caution it deserves. He`s not an aviator he`s an accountant.

Things not good there.

the end of ryanair

Oh, please, if it's not too late, is there any chance that you might get a life?  Like it or not (and you've made it plain you don't), Ryanair is one of aviation's huge success stories - the world's biggest international airline, unrivalled safety record, profitable, booming passenger numbers.

It's a success story that appears to be disintegrating. Seen that happen enough times.
There's obviously a problem somewhere along the line. They need to sort it quick.

I believe we should go easy on Viva as all his posts of late could suggests he has a relatively mild forms of Autism and Dyslexia and when you add this to an over active imagination and an unhealthy obsession with far right politics it makes most of his posts look like they are been composed by someone who is somewhat confused.
In one of his posts around Christmas last he made himself out to be a superman of sorts when posted that he and his mates escaped from some part of Africa, built a raft, sailed it to Portugal and flew home to England First Class on BA.
Probably all this happened in a computer generated game!
His absolute refusal to even consider looking at other peoples points of view, and then proceeds to name call, belittle them and make stupid threat's because he cannot put forward a simple reply all makes him appear somewhat mentally unstable.
It appears that by venting his frustrations on this and other forums it probably helps clam his mind and relax.
I think we should give him a bit of room but not take him seriously, that is if he exists at all.

and the story with these cancellations is they are cancelling flights leaving from dublin first.

typical ryannair attack your most loyal customers . . . . .

then again, my irish mate fester says he will never fly ryannair again after a incident he had to pay for that was 100% ryannairs fault.

but its not all about the money, workers rights, perks etc, you have to pay for your own cup of coffee if your a pilot for ryannair, pay for your own accomodation etc etc etc this is why they are striking. they are not happy with how they are being treated.

When I worked for a leading multinational automotive company, I had to buy my own coffee from a machine.  This isn't unusual.  Maybe you get free coffee at McDonalds?

we have a coffee machine in the offices or at worst a kettle (in Africa) I guess that just shows im a little bit better than you as a director or cheif officer for the last 20 odd years directing budgets of over 142 million dollars per year for listed companies/leading companies breaking world records etcetcetc

I guess that long shot from a low paid job in say a factory ?

ive never worked at a company that doesnt give perks like this.

The latest Ryanair traffic statistics show that the number of passengers carried by the airline grew to 13.1 million customers in July, a 4% increase on the same month last year.

.

Don’t worry Viva will build a raft with a solar panel on it so he can boil a kettle and make coffee for the captain. He will make sail for any beautiful island 🌴 that takes your fancy.
He could then possibly build an ark and save a pair of brexiterrs and a pair of remainders a pair of socialists and a pair of right wingers and re populate the U.K. He would take Boris Mogg Nigel and a few more to introduce the correct amount of looney ideas into the new population.
But being the fool he is he would probably spoil it all and supply them with condoms. 😜😜😜

So no holidays post brexit now LOL. Well thats the least of our worries seeing as we will be starving, our currency worthless, nobody to man the NHS or pick our strawberries and the lights will all go out.

How will we survive?  ;)
