The ECB yesterday went bonkers, took EU interest rates down to minus .05%

I thought I had a reasonable understanding of finance, but how the hell does a minus% work does it cost the lender money to lend money????

The Idea from the ECB is that by having minus interest rates then the banks will not want to keep large amounts of cash in deposit as this will mean they will lose money. So they will actively seek to lend money which in theory should stimulate the economy. It's a last-ditch desperate attempt by a central bank.

The theory sounds good but the reality is different. As you lower the value of the euro (which ha good & bad effects) which long term is not a good idea. You get a bubble but eventually people get into too much debt and you are in a worse position than when you started and tend to get a longer recession. This is a short precis of the but trying to keep it short. Read this for more depth

And that's where the underestimation comes into play. I don't think Farage needs Johnson as much as Johnson needs Farage. If Boris can't see it he deserves what's coming to him. But I thinks he's more than aware.
Farage has an election structure he could only of dreamed of with UKIP. Someone is going to reap the whirlwind.

Sorry to shatter your delusions but you might want to have a wee browse at Bungles latest interview in the Mail on Sunday in which he states, he will not, under any circumstances, be forming a pact with the Brexit Party. Not even it seems, to save the Tory Party. Never mind, chin up  8)

Perhaps, but I think Bungles Ego is too big for him to share the limelight with Mr Bighead. Looking forward to seeing how that one pans out.

Yep interesting to see where Johnson's real loyalty lies..brexit, the Tory party...or himself. Only a combination of the first two will save him.

Very true. Whatever your views on Brexit, the Political system in the UK is getting the massive shake up it so desperately needed.

i'd go even further. Shut the whole damn thing down and have a complete clear out in the commons and the Lords. the election system also needs severe restructuring. Will it happen..probably not.

Anyway the real test comes before the Supreme Court next week when the proper arguments will be advanced and considered.

The UK's highest court rules Boris Johnson's decision to suspend Parliament for five weeks was unlawful

A panel of 11 justices at the Supreme Court in London gave their decision on Tuesday in a ruling on the legality of the Prime Minister's advice to the Queen to prorogue Parliament until October 14.

Delivering its conclusions, the Supreme Court's president, Lady Hale, said: "The effect on the fundamentals of our democracy was extreme."
She added: "The decision to advise Her Majesty to prorogue Parliament was unlawful because it had the effect of frustrating or preventing the ability of Parliament to carry out its constitutional functions without reasonable justification."

The judgment declares: “This court is not ... precluded by article 9 [of the Bill or Rights] or by any wider parliamentary privilege from considering the validity of the prorogation itself ... That advice [to the Queen] was outside the powers of the prime minister to give it. This means that it was null and of no effect.”

Commons Speaker John Bercow welcomed the ruling and said Parliament "must convene without delay", adding that he would now consult party leaders "as a matter of urgency".

A raft of MPs have now called for the prime minister to resign and for Parliament to return as soon as possible.

Speaking outside the Supreme Court, campaigner Gina Miller, who brought one of the appeals, said: “Crucially today’s ruling confirms that we are a nation governed by the rule of law.

Don’t care how he does it? Even if he breaks the Law? Just what I expect coming from an ex Plod, who was no doubt in service, at the same time as the Guildford four & the Birmingham six. You give all plods a bad name. Corrupt through & through, just like the current, but soon to be ex PM. Hang your head in shame PC Plod.

What we want is an election. This election isn't going to be fought as brexit remain or leave. This is going to be fought on pro and anti Democracy lines. Its total war now..you buggers have asked for it

The brexit party is primed and ready. Farage is on the starting blocks and waiting like a coiled spring....

Tell us what were your criminal convictions for or was it just that we caught you for drunk driving. Your attitude is what we used to find from people who `got done`...

Presume you got your licence back now though

While you`re obsessing with my career which I finished decades ago you might want to talk about the one I had after that......Undertaking.. I`d love to tell you all the ins and outs and I can describe exactly how we embalm people.I`m sure you`d like to know....If you come across any of the fluids, keep clear they`re a bit nasty.......like you...Have a nice day

If that is true then it's just a further illustration of how low the dumbed down population of the U.K. has reached. There's very little difference seperating them. Circus Clowns entertaining the clapping morons.

Personally i think the British people have just woken up. They see a 'can do' politician in Johnson instead of the Liberal 'cant do's'. They can now see the true face of Socialism in Corbyn and Swinson. Its taken time but as always they've got there in the end. Still not assured of brexit yet, but it looks like the public are not going to just sit on their hands and let the Establishment destroy it.

power to the peeps. And all that stuff. ;)

Bluffing Boris, the Bungling Buffoon will go begging the EU for an extension after all, when his ‘ingenious’ and oh so sincere attempt to get a deal gets laughed all the way back from Brussels. Jeepers Creepers, you dumb ‘ass’ followers of the Clown in No10 sure love to back a lame duck dontcha  ;D ;D ;D
