Ryanair cease Leeds Bradford flights

Ryanair have today announced they are scaling back their Leeds base and reducing from 3 to 2 aircraft. They are cancelling 6 routes one of which is Fuerteventura with the last flight being on November 5th. Lanzarote is lasting until 5th January.

  The others are Murcia/Corvera , Faro, Vilnius and Gran Canaria.

Another excuse for Jet2 to increase their extortionate prices even further. Shades of 2009 on the horizon

Apparantly O`Leary warned at their last AGM that there were too many seats around Europe being sold at a loss to the operators. Ryanair themselves wanted to reduce seats by about 5 million, which would result in base closures. He even suggested that about 6 airlines in Europe needed to fold to reduce capacity, maybe over dramatic but thats O Leary.

  Oil prices and union demands have hammered more nails in the coffin. They will still operate flights out there but not as many, nor from as many UK ports, nor as frequent and certainly not as cheap.
